Overview[ | ]

Wood Spikes are a trap used to defend structures by impaling zombies and/or players. Wood Spikes are crafted using 20 Wood as shown below. They begin to lose durability after being stepped on by players or zombies, and are eventually destroyed. The degradation is evident in the item name:

Originally when repairing they would go through the 5 stages, as of Alpha 15.1 they now directly go to completely healed.

Notes[ | ]

  • They are an excellent defense for early game and can be implemented into late game strategies as well.
  • They are really helpful when dealing with running zombies, as the spikes slow them down and now with Alpha 13 and the Dismemberment feature, they can make Zombies crawlers.
  • Be careful when placing them, as you will sometimes place them below yourself and damage yourself.
  • If you are staying in a house, a good strategy is to surround it by 3 layers of spikes.
  • As of Alpha 4, Wood Spikes must be placed on a solid Block.
  • As of Alpha 15, Wood Spikes became much less practical as their price changed from 4 to 100 wood. Wood Log Spikes became the cheap, viable alternative with a material cost of 20 wood.
  • As of Alpha 16, price of wood spikes went from 100 to 20 wood.
