Overview[ | ]
The Iron Crossbow is a craftable weapon in 7 Days to Die. It is unlocked after reading the Crossbow Schematic. The Crossbow is a medium to long-range weapon that fires crossbow bolts as Ammunition. It will reload automatically after each shot. As of A13 the Iron Crossbow has a quality level. It can be used as a source of Combustible fuel, with a burn time of 40 seconds. It can be scrapped, yelding 45 Scrap Iron.
To equip a different type of ammo than the default wooden bolts, press and hold R, then select the ammo type you want.
Unlocking[ | ]
Before being able to craft a Iron Crossbow, the recipe must be unlocked. This is done by reading the required recipe book.
Combat[ | ]
During combat, a Iron Crossbow is a powerful medium to long range weapon. At short range, however, the player may have trouble because it requires reloading for each shot and therefore has a slow rate of fire. A Iron Crossbow can kill most Zombies with one head shot. Due to its slow firing rate, a Iron Crossbow should be used with care at short range.

Crafting Recipe[ | ]
The Iron Crossbow can be crafted by searching for Iron Crossbow in your inventory crafting window search bar and selecting "Craft".
Repair[ | ]
The condition of a Iron Crossbow deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Forged Iron.
Notes[ | ]
As of Alpha 15 release, stone-tipped crossbow bolts are removed, making it difficult to resupply ammunition in the field. It might be necessary to use Wooden Bow on casual encounters during long range foraging to save metal bolts for critical situations.[1]
