Overview[edit | edit source]

TNT is a craftable item which can be used to destroy blocks. It is recommended that you are far away before you detonate it as it has splash damage. Shooting it or a Pipe Bomb explosion will detonate it. A Crossbow doesn't trigger the explosion unless you use exploding crossbow bolt nor will a Dart trap Dart. TNT can also be hit with a torch, but doing so will cause damage to the player lighting it. TNT can damage or even destroy blocks in a 5 block diameter sphere.

The explosion will detonate Sedans, Gas Barrels, and other blocks of TNT, triggering a chain reaction that can demolish large structures.

Lock Cracking[edit | edit source]

Since TNT has a block damage of 900, and Wall Safes and Gun Safes are locked with a layer of 2500 durability, the explosion of TNT can be used to unlock a locked safe.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • In Alpha 2 the explosion leaves 50% of the destroyed blocks behind.
  • In Stone, the TNT makes a hole of 3x3 blocks and it damages some of the adjacent blocks.
  • TNT is great for clearing out mines rapidly if you have the extra materials. Just use caution not to collapse the roof on top of you. Doing this may attract a large number of zombies.
  • As of A13 the Gun Powder Charge is no longer necessary and has been removed from the game.
