Description[edit | edit source]

A Steel Pickaxe is a multi-purpose tool that can be found throughout the world in 7 Days to Die. It can be crafted using the correct items and is fairly easy to craft, but with the recipe requiring Forged Steel it is reasonably expensive on resources and requires you have a Forge.

The quality and durability of the Steel Pickaxe entirely depends upon a survivors Tool Smithing (Skill), which is required to be able to craft the item.

Despite the Steel Pickaxe being slower to swing than a standard Iron Pickaxe, it does far more block damage than the former, being most effective at harvesting stone & ores.

As a weapon it is a bit slow, but still potent enough to deal with minor threats and requires no ammunition.

Uses[edit | edit source]

As a Tool[edit | edit source]

When used as a tool a Steel Pickaxe is especially suited to mining, which in turn allows you to gather various minerals, metals and ores. It is also effective when used to destroy stone based blocks as it is the appropriate tool for stone based blocks. It is also the best tool for use on metal based blocks. A Steel Pickaxe is capable of destroying blocks up to four blocks away.

Crafting Recipe[edit | edit source]

You can craft Steel Pickaxe only within a workbench by clicking on the ingredients and selecting recipe, then hitting craft.

Repair[edit | edit source]

The condition of a Steel Pickaxe deteriorates with each use until eventually it will quit working, before this happens it can be repaired. This can be done using Forged Steel.

Scrapping[edit | edit source]

A Steel Pickaxe can be scrapped for Scrap Iron by clicking on Steel Pickaxe and selecting "scrap"

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The effectiveness of the picking depends on your stamina, condition, and quality of the weapon. The higher your stamina, condition, and quality of your Steel Pickaxe, the faster you will pick.
