Description[edit | edit source]

An Iron Pickaxe is an Ore and Stone harvesting tool that can be found throughout the world in 7 Days to Die. It can be crafted using the correct items and is fairly easy to craft, but with the recipe requiring Forged Irons, you will need a Forge before being able to craft it. Working Stiffs Crates sometimes contain an Iron Pickaxe.

As of Alpha 13, Durability is based on the tool's quality. It will degrade until Durability reaches 0, and then cease functioning until repaired. You can repair an Iron Pickaxe with Forged Iron. It cannot be dismantled, but it can be scrapped, melted in a Forge and burnt as a source of Combustible fuel. As a tool it is most effective when used on stone and ore based items and boulders. As a weapon it is used at close range and does not require any Ammunition.

Uses[edit | edit source]

As a Tool[edit | edit source]

When used as a tool an Iron Pickaxe is especially suited to mining, which in turn allows you to gather various minerals, metals and ores. It is also effective when used to destroy stone based blocks as it is the appropriate tool for stone based blocks. It is also one of the best tools for use on metal based blocks. An Iron Pickaxe is capable of destroying blocks up to four blocks away.

As a Weapon[edit | edit source]

During combat an Iron Pickaxe is a somewhat effective short range weapon, however, it is more effective against one or two Zombies, and will not be very effective when dealing with a group of several Zombies at close quarters. It can be used quite effectively against single zombies when combined with the stealth of crouching to launch a sneak attack.

Crafting Recipe[edit | edit source]

Iron Pickaxe can be crafted by clicking on the ingredients in your inventory and selecting recipes, then craft Iron Pickaxe. Or you can search for Iron Pickaxe in your crafting window search bar and craft it from there.

Repair[edit | edit source]

The condition of an Iron Pickaxe deteriorates with each use until eventually it will quit working. Before this happens it can be repaired. This can be done using Forged Iron.

Scrapping[edit | edit source]

An Iron Pickaxe can be scrapped by clicking on the Iron Pickaxe and clicking "scrap"

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The effectiveness of the picking depends on your stamina, condition, and quality of the weapon. The higher your stamina, condition, and quality of your Iron Pickaxe, the faster you will pick.
  • As of Alpha 11 release, the Pickaxe is no longer in the game and instead has been replaced by the Iron Pickaxe. [1]
