− | Players who have read the appropriate [[Recipe Book]] can also use this method to upgrade gun parts in the weapon to a higher [[Character_Level#Item_Quality|quality]]. To do so, remove the desired gun part from the crafting grid, and replace it with a similar gun part of higher quality. Note that this action must be done in a specific order. You cannot first drag the NEW gun part onto the crafting grid and "swap" it with the OLD one. You must first drag the OLD gun part off of the crafting grid and replace or swap it with the NEW one. |

Overview[ | ]
A Hunting Rifle is a medium to long range bolt action firearm which can be found throughout the world in 7 Days to Die. It is an uncommon weapon but it's craftable. This weapon requires the 7.62mm Bullet and only holds one cartridge at a time. It will reload automatically if the player is carrying the correct Ammunition or it can be done manually at any time using the reload key (default key R ).
Combat[ | ]
During combat, a Hunting Rifle is a very powerful long range weapon. At short range, however, the player may have trouble because it must be reloaded for each shot and therefore has a slow rate of fire. A Hunting Rifle will kill most Zombies with one head shot. Due to its slow firing rate and relatively uncommon ammunition (7.62mm), the Hunting Rifle should be used conservatively and with care in the hands of beginning players.

The recipe above contains the Resources needed to craft the Hunting Rifle for each level of the Dead Eye Perk.
A higher level in the associated perk will decrease the crafting cost, saving resources.
Repair[ | ]
The Condition of a Hunting Rifle deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Repair Kit.

Notes[ | ]
- A Hunting Rifle, like all weapons, can destroy blocks and structures.
- The Hunting Rifle appears to be based on the Remington Model 700, as the exact name is imprinted on the receiver.
