Most cooked items have a base 4% chance of causing {{PAGENAME}}. Items like [[Raw Meat]] or [[Rotting Flesh]] have a significantly higher chance. The chance of getting poisoned is shown in the inventory status page for each food item. ==Effects== If you get {{PAGENAME}}, the following things will happen: *You will vomit *Your [[Fullness]] and [[Stamina]] will immediately drop to approximately 30, leaving you [[Starving]] *You will lose 20 [[Hydration]] *Any healing or stamina regen buffs (e.g. from previously-eaten food) will be canceled == Avoiding/Curing == Since {{PAGENAME}} is an instant debuff, there is no 'cure'. Simply eat more food and drink fluids to restore your Fullness and Hydration. {{PAGENAME}} can be avoided in the following ways: *Taking [[Vitamins]] right before eating will prevent {{PAGENAME}} *Taking levels in the [[Iron Gut]] perk will reduce the chance of {{PAGENAME}} by 1 percentage point per level (effectively making you immune to poisoning from most cooked foods with level 4 of the perk) ==Here Comes The Math== Each attempt to eat a potentially poisonous food item has no effect on later attempts (they are 'independent trials' in statistical speak). Therefore, the chance of being poisoned in 25 meals at 4% chance each is not 100%, but more like 64%. The formula for calculating % chance of getting buff B in N trials if there is a P% chance each time is: % Chance of buff = 1-((1-P)<sup>N</sup>) For 25 meals of normal cooked food, with a 4% chance each, that works out to: % Chance of {{PAGENAME}} = 1-(0.96<sup>25</sup>) = 1-0.36 = 0.64 or 64% chance For 10 meals of [[Rotting Flesh]], which has an 18% chance of poisoning you, it is: % Chance of {{PAGENAME}} = 1-(0.82<sup>10</sup>) = 1-0.137 = 0.863 or 86.3% chance It is of course entirely possible to get {{PAGENAME}} twice or more in a row, if the RNG gods are particularly angry at you. Switch to canned food for a while. ==Versions Prior to A18== '''{{PAGENAME}}''' is an effect that gives a negative buff that is gained through eating [[Rotting Flesh|Rotting]] [[Rotting Flesh|Flesh]], [[Raw Meat|raw]] [[Raw Meat|meat]], [[Moldy Bread]], [[Egg|Eggs]] and [[Old Sham Sandwich|Old Sham Sandwiches]]. It will decrease your [[Stamina]] at a rate of 10 points every second for a duration of 30 seconds. ==Trivia== *If you take Vitamins and then attempt to give yourself {{PAGENAME}} via command line using 'buff buffIllFoodPoisoning01' it will return an error saying that the buff ID is not valid.
