Overview[edit | edit source]

The Crossbow is a craftable weapon in 7 Days to Die. It is unlocked after reading the Crossbow Schematic. The Crossbow is a medium to long-range weapon that fires crossbow bolts as Ammunition. It will reload automatically after each shot. As of A13 the Crossbow has a quality level. It can be scrapped, yielding 75 Scrap Iron.

To equip a different type of ammo than the default wooden bolts, press and hold R, then select the ammo type you want.

Combat[edit | edit source]

During combat, a Crossbow is a powerful medium to long range weapon. At short range, however, the player may have trouble because it requires reloading for each shot and therefore has a slow rate of fire. A Crossbow can kill most Zombies with one head shot. Due to its slow firing rate, a Crossbow should be used with care at short range.

Repair[edit | edit source]

The condition of a Crossbow deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Forged Iron.

Notes[edit | edit source]

The Alpha 15 release[1], removed the Stone Crossbow Bolt. However, it was added back in Alpha 17? (exact version unknown) release.

Until you increase your reload speed for bows, the crossbow is not a recommended weapon for hordes.

The crossbow is the only weapon in the game besides the rocket launcher to fire its own independent ammunition that’s not universal.

You can find crossbows in shotgun messiah crates
