Description[ | ]

The Auger is a multipurpose tool that can be used to rapidly destroy anything but wooden blocks. The Auger can be looted from Decayed Sedans and Working Stiffs Crate, and Garage Storage, Bank Wall Safe. While the Auger can be used as a melee weapon, it is ill-advised as it deals very low damage and can often take a lot of gas just by killing a few enemies. Additionally, no scaling with any attribute provides no bonuses in mid to late game.

The Auger requires fuel, in the form of Gas Cans. Refueling will be done automatically or it can be done manually by pressing the reload button (while the Auger is selected and with a Gas Can in the inventory).

A higher level in the associated perk will decrease the crafting cost, saving resources.

Repairing[ | ]

You can use Repair Kits to repair your Auger.

Scrapping[ | ]

Scrapping provides Chainsaw Parts, which can be used in crafting both Auger and an Chainsaw. It is advisable to scrap only Auger only when you have a higher tier variant and when you plan to craft a higher tier variant in the futurue.

Heat Map[ | ]

Whenever you use an Auger it affects the Heatmap. If used for long enough or if multiple augers are used simultaneously, it will attract zombies. If the heat level gets high enough, it will attract one or more Screamer Zombies.

For a better understanding of the heatmap and heat, see Heatmap.

Notes[ | ]

  • Most often found in cities.
  • Can be found inside Garage Storage boxes and Decayed Sedans Also can be found in Hardware Stores.
  • Use with caution: the Auger makes a lot of noise and may alert zombies of your presence.
  • Runs on gasoline tanks as fuel and empties them quite fast.
  • A18 changed the crafting to Chainsaw Parts instead of Mechanical Parts.
