Description[edit | edit source]
The Auger is a multipurpose tool that can be used to rapidly destroy stone or metal blocks that are vulnerable to a Pickaxe. The Auger can be looted from Decayed Sedans and Working Stiffs Crate, and Garage Storage. It can also be found on lumberjacks in the winter biome, as well as the parts. While the Auger can be used as a melee weapon, it is ill-advised as it deals very low damage and can often take a lot of gas just by killing a few enemies.
The Auger requires fuel, in the form of Gas Cans. Refueling will be done automatically or it can be done manually by pressing the reload button (while the Auger is selected and with a Gas Can in the inventory).
As of A13, augers now have a quality level as well as their parts. You can repair the Auger with Repair Kits. It is considered the "end-game" tool to have to build dungeons, caves, bunkers, pits, and anything else that requires mass digging.
Auger Parts[edit source]
Each part of the Auger can supply a different attribute. It is unknown if the value supplied is based on the quality of the component or the overall quality of the Auger. Auger does not really have a durability, each of its component parts have a durability and when any of them fail then the whole Auger fails.
- Accuracy has changed in Alpha 16, it is unsure how this now affects the accuracy of the weapon
With some weapons the amount of damage take to the weapon itself can change with the quality of the weapon. It is also possible for the damage taken to go up, simulating that it is a finely tuned weapon that can be put out of action quicker. For a Auger the following describes the minimum and maximum number of uses of the weapon, based on the quality, before it will need to be repaired.
- Minimum Quality (1): 3000 / 1 = 3000
- Maximum Quality (600): 6000 / 1 = 6000
Note:[edit | edit source]
- Both Handlebars and Auger Parts provide a degradation rate, so it is unclear which provides this field or if it is an average of both.
Unlocking[edit | edit source]
Crafting[edit | edit source]
You can craft the Auger by clicking on any of the parts and choosing "assemble." If you first select the engine to start assembling the auger, you will receive a prompt to choose to assemble a chainsaw or an auger. From there you can put your parts into the spots and craft the Auger.
Required Items[edit | edit source]
Scrapping[edit | edit source]
Augers are very valuable and effective, thus making them a poor choice for scrapping. However, they do scrap into Scrap Iron.
Heat Map[edit | edit source]
Whenever you use an Auger it affects the Heatmap. If used for long enough or if multiple augers are used simultaneously, it will attract zombies. If the heat level gets high enough, it will attract one or more Screamer Zombies.
For a better understanding of the heatmap and heat, see Heatmap.
