Overview [ | ] A Shotgun Shell is a type of Ammunition for the Shotgun and Sawed off Shotgun . They can be looted from Infected Police Officers , Feral Zombies , Munitions Boxes , Wall Safes , Gun Safes , Shotgun Messiah Crates and Supply Crates . They can also be crafted after unlocking the Shotgun Shell Crafting perk. Unlike most other ammo types, Shotgun Shells cannot be dismantled. It can however be "Scrapped" for Scrap Iron .
Note that the damage values listed are per pellet; the Shotgun fires 8 pellets per shot (so multiply damage by up to 8 if all pellets hit), while the Sawed off Shotgun fires 9 pellets per shot with a wider spread.
Unlocking [ | ] In order to be able to craft Shotgun Shell, the perk Shotgun Shell Crafting needs to be unlocked in the Skills Menu for 5 skill points.
